Oium is the home system of the Obskory Republic, its a relatively quiet system with only a few planets to speak of and there is only one that is in the habitable zone. The Crypt is the main planet in the system, the Kory home world, and it is barren from surface to core with very limited resources. The Crypt's moon though is a basically a giant ball of metal, resources and untapped potential. The moon was named the Obelisk and has been the Kory's main source of materials for most of their expansion through their system. It also serves as an orbital station for their home world to help with transporting goods and people to the 2nd main planet in the system known as Paradise. Paradise was the only planet in the system that was considered livable until the Obskory nuked it to freeze the surface to suit their own people. It is a planet much like earth with a layer of magma below the surface and a molten core of iron. Edited by MadMacs, Jan 29 2018, 02:31 PM.

The Crypt Obskory Council Chambers Sarcoph The Nakar diplomats strode through the halls of the council to greet their ObsKory counterparts. Diplomacy was originally thought to be difficult with these shadowy lizard people. Their rooms were dark and they didn't appreciate the finer things in life. Colourless, cold, drab. Everything was plain. The politics however was in line with the Great Dynamic. The ObsKory knew little about the outside universe, the Nakar knew much. This, for any creature was a good time to mould a great relation. Conflict was coming, some would benefit, some would lose out, the ObsKory were the tipping point, poised to gain much, or lose much if they played their cards wrong. As they sat down they exchanged pleasantries. Then the Nakar diplomat took out a datatablet and some paper hardcopy images. He displayed them on the desk of the ObsKory diplomat. "Sol, home of Humanity, only two jumps away from your Crypt. Two jumps away from Paradise. They couldn't hold their own planet from destruction, and they carry the torch." More photos slapped onto the desk. The Commonwealth. They and the United Federation of Europa are two sides of the same coin, their policies identical, their leadership similar, what differs them is not their outlook but their proximity. "The New Terran Empire." another few photos. "The most pragmatic of humans, the most receptive to relations. They side with all matters, but they care who will benefit them the most. These human nations hail all from the breast of a mother faction. A brutish regime that buckled under its own grotesque weight. The United Systems Coalition..." the Nakar diplomat gave the ObsKory diplomat a biased version of events that painted the USC as the instigators of the Alarei conflict. "...These nations all held the USC in high esteem bar the New Terran Empire, who we estimate have nearly been around for as long as the former. A last USC stronghold exists, a private venture, here." He poked a page on a relative map, he put the tablet over it and the tablet translated the inscriptions. "No more than two full jumps, galactic standard. Polycrates, a system without leadership. Four planets inside the rings of Gaia. An ice world as well. It is a council grey area.... but our informers tell us that the council has been attacked, and you could use this to your advantage." "From our brief time here we have studied your honourable race, the arachnisumbra you fought, your books say it was not their immense strength you feared. It was their subterfuge. Their ability to vanish like ash. Mankind is the same beast, but far less impressive. They hide behind morals and protocols, jumped up monarchs and bureaucracies with the illusion of free will. We can supply you with arms to 'liberate' or colonise if you wish to maintain a low presence in Polycrates. We realise in your past your people have mistrusted your government over the failure to deliver an extra-solar colony. We could help you with this. By entwining your future with ours you open yourselves up to a market where we can elevate our desirables and suppress our undesirables, fortunes can change under your direct will! Power is absolute and the ethical divergence of the Science Corps and Revenant Council could be a thing of the past! All we ask is you bless us with your potent fleet power to protect what shakey peace we are trying to maintain. The Alarei conflict doomed us all, we must strive to make sure the destructive nature of man does not again turn brother against brother. We must, as extraterrestrials, watch out for each other. The Nakar represent the alien interests of Talarin, and heed my words, the humans will attempt to hit there first in their inevitable counter strike." Edited by Rookzilla, Jan 29 2018, 03:07 PM.

The Crypt Obskory Council Chambers Sarcoph The Obskory regard their visitors with a cold gaze. Silently communicating through their cybernetic uplink Ideas, concerns and questions race between the elders. The Magnus Elder pins the Nakar diplomats with a dead stare "You wish for us to be your mercenaries?" "We are a noble race, unless you wish to displease your hosts I would suggest you make this more appealing to us." Edited by MadMacs, Jan 29 2018, 03:15 PM.

The Crypt Obskory Council Chambers Sarcoph "My Lords, we Nakar hold you in high esteem, but there is no time for prancing around the hot springs. War is coming, we realise your history is mired with needless conflict, we would not know this unless we truthfully wished to know your species better." Yurkhor stopped. It was time to stop fucking around, Declamatorius had a hand up his ass and if he didn't deliver some good news he was going to lose the head from his shoulders. "Okay, ObsKory. We are mighty. We are not as mighty as we would like, and therefore we would like you to stand shoulder-to-shoul-" he paused, some of the people that walked the streets of Sarcoph had done so on all fours. "What matters is that we realise that in order for both of us to preserve our fiefdoms we are better together. Will you watch as Polycrates becomes a human colony? Will you stand idly as the ever-looming spectre of man creeps in on your borders, choking your influence? You would swap a beneficial agreement for a stay of execution?" he poked the pictures. "These humans are not like us, they do not value the alien presence on their matters. Tell me ObsKory, have you recieved diplomatic missions before us? Have the humans contacted you? Do the humans of Europa and the Commonwealth confirm even your basic existence!" Yurkhor scratched at his head. "My Elders, you could not stay confined to the Crypt. You could not stay on Paradise and you could not stay bound to your system. Now is the time to act. Don't let your grandchildren curse the human skies because your pride let you wait too long to act!" |

The Crypt Obskory Council Chambers Sarcoph The Magnus Elder reclined in his chair and once more conversed silently with his colleagues. "We have heard of this Polycrates you speak of and of this vermin you call 'Humans'. We have had some altercations" - The Magnus' eyes flash white for a moment as though remember an old rage -"with them before. Nothing major just a few stupid enough to venture into our lands." The voices in the elder's heads fall silent. "Very well. You may count on us to be your allies in this endeavour but let me make this clear. We are not cheap nor disposable." The Magnus Elder slowly rises from his chair onto his dominant legs. When he reaches his peak of 7 feet he outstretches a scaly hand to the Nakar diplomat and with a dangerous lick of his lips and bearing of his teeth he growls. "Shall we go to war gentlemen?" "The Polycrates await" |

The Crypt Sarcoph Nakar Embassy "Thank you for seeing us on such short notice." The Magnus Elder smiled while he and his senior colleagues sat around the table with the Nakar diplomats. "Something has come to our attention while on Miletos that we feel you neglected to mention last we spoke. That there was a certain crashed dreadnought on nearby Argos that was just waiting to be taken? Does this ring any bells?" The Council elders sat silently and stared flatly at the diplomats awaiting a response. As they waited however they received word from the Admiral ,via their secretary's neuro-link, that pirates had just overrun Samos' starport and that it now posed a significant threat to any Obskory ships that would be passing through the system or to and from Miletos. The Elders gave the order to send Captain X and a second ship of his choosing to Samos to destroy the starport before it could do any damage. |

The Crypt Sarcoph Nakar Embassy The Nakar delegation weren't dressed in their usual formal attire. Afterall, calling an emergency session at 6 in the morning was a rather odd occurrence even for the extrahuman species. Yurkhor drummed the table. He leaned back and he shot a glance across to his Obskory counterparts. He opens his mouth, wide, something should have come but it didn't. He closed it, breathed in again and had another go, this time, successfully. "We knew we had extra-council FTL signatures, but you have to forgive us, precursor empires usually amount to nothing technologically. It is a shame that yet again we have to deal with the Blacksharks guarding this treasure trove. Ah, yes, the Black Sharks," Yurkhor took out a few data tablets and expanded them into holograms, he then had a change of thought, minimising the pictures. "My leader, Declamatorius wishes me to extend this information to you as a sign of our good faith towards our previous conversation that spurred on this little colonial initiative you have going on in Polycrates. We have a number of solutions. We also are going to give you some information that you may choose to work with or without, but we feel it may benefit you." He rubbed his eyes, tiredness was like a howling dog in his head that wouldn't quit, he wanted to get back to bed and he had no interest in walking the brinkmans tightrope today. "We understand that this is your first human-orientated campaign, something us extra-solar species have to get used to. Our Great Dynamic extends to humans, so please, whilst we respect the fact that to biologically greater races such as ourselves, respect the fact that in order to determine our own autonomy in this galaxy we must include humanity in the image we shape." he leaned back, thinking if he'd missed anything in the lines he had rehearsed. He then snapped his fingers and got back to the data tablet. "Ex Zeleynian. SR Zeleyni was a human nation, based on the former habitable world of Kuteznegrad. Black Sharks are mainly ex military and thugs. Zeleynu are a sub species of humanity, weaker, less developed, lower fertility, a whole cross section of problems, but they are highly augmented like some members of your species. They are stocky and strong, records indicated they were and probably still are more robust than their homosapien counterparts. Blacksharks are impeccable, they have connections to the Baktan Cartels and prior to that the Navidniy family; organised crime syndicates. Under human nations organised criminal activity is seriously crippling and threatening. Kuteznegrad is a toxic world, but its borders are open and a mere few metres under its surface is a well of tunnels stemming continental plates. This former superpower has an army at its back in the form of rogue generals and warlords, and they do a sure job of keeping the Black Sharks well stocked." Yathrok coughed, he tapped a button an a Zarakian assistant fluttered in lowly on its wings. He handed him another data tablet. "We think the dreadnought will draw the attention of many, and we will obviously assist you in acquiring this rare prize. Our government doesn't see us lasting very much longer on Talarin, human influence could seriously jeopardise our position, and thanks to the rogue Lojari attacks on the council station we cannot channel our diplomatic efforts there; a place we could have outvoted the humans on many matters. It's probably beginning to sound obvious that humans are a key part of both our salvation and our downfall in many areas, which is why we want to help you convince the Polycrats that we can genuinely help them. We understand that the weaponry suited for the Obskory might not be directly transferable for use by the Polycrats. As a solution to this we are offering to supply your sponsored forces with Nakar Terran weaponry, which we are happy for your engineers to reverse engineer and study. Once you figure out terran ergonomics you can begin to sell your own weapons on terran markets, and so on, and so forth." He accented his point by waving his alien appendage in circles. "If you need humans for experimentation, be smart about it, our associates, the Nagarian Federation control a large part of the human slave trade, and would be happy to sell you a large sum of human slaves for experimentation. You don't need me to tell you that even we cannot stand behind an anti-human bioweapon and the council will certainly not stand for it. But finding out things like selective shock tolerance and psychological warfare is something we continue to probe into, but like every species you'd need to find out what works for yourself." he sighed, moving his glance between the Magnus Elder and the other elders of the council. "We're all here because we are somewhat politically savvy. There is mutual need for each other in this part of the galaxy. The Nakar empire is ready to offer limited assistance to you, should you need it. We realise your doctrine of warfare isn't well suited to deep battles and we are somewhat concerned that your attacks on Argos could be damaging to the research potential for the Alarei dreadnought. We can transfer our research teams we have on Talarin for direct assistance, provided transparency is held up on both sides. Are these the answers you were looking for? Do you have any further questions about the Polycratic campaign?" |

The Crypt Sarcoph Nakar Embasy The Elders conversed silently, digesting what Yurkhor had just told them, "So they knew of the dreadnought but did not attempt to seize it, I have a feeling that they wanted us to find it, that way they would have support already in the system should they meet resistance." "I agree Magnus, I think we should continue with our previously organised plan, stealth will be our friend here." "Yurkhor, you said you have research teams already in system? We have already made the decision to abstain from an orbital bombardment of the planet to prevent any damage to the dreadnought or any possibility of igniting a planet wide extinction event should we hit any hidden dangers subterra." "If you wish for this endeavour to proceed quickly and quietly I would suggest you have your research teams meet our destroyers above Argos within the next few hours. Our stealth division are currently preparing to infiltrate the dreadnought." The Magnus Elder stood and extended a large clawed appendage toward the diplomats. Then with a quiet ping he dropped what appeared to be a small chip into the middle of the table. "This is one of our older non-neuro communication chips. I know you have quite a sophisticated communication array here and im sure you will attempt to reverse engineer the device so ill save you the trouble and have one of our engineers send you the schematics. Should you need to contact us quickly that chip has been coded specifically to a relay in the council chambers. That's where we will be." The Elders stood and swept from the room, knowing they had just thrown a double edged sword into the mix. Would the Nakar try to use it to spy? Or would they be the first to break and use it to spy on the Nakar? The chip was basically ancient technology to the Obskory as they had long since nanised the neuro-chips and had even squeezed the incendiary device into it as well. The Nakar would learn little from the chip if they were as advanced as they seemed. Edited by MadMacs, Feb 13 2018, 06:28 AM.

The Crypt Sarcoph Nakar Embassy Yurkhor scratched his head some as he looked at the chip. His Zarakian assistant picked it up and fluttered away with it. He nodded “One moment, I will attempt to relay what you have just said to our home system. I am not specialised in galactic communications. So I do not know the weighting of this yet, I will discuss in a few moments when I am further informed. In regards to our researchers, perhaps you heard me wrong. We have Alarei research specialists on the planet of Talarin, the homeworld of the Alarei. Should you need expertise in the field however we are prepared to transfer them to Argos to conduct research on the crashed dreadnoughts.” In the background the Zarakian took a flash capture of the small device and typed away at a keypad. This series of tachyon transmissions was fired wirelessly to the Nakar relay and then shot across the galaxy. Yurkhor was looking at all of this then turned his attention back to the council elders. Yurkhor stood out from his chair, feeling tired from the debates. “Gentle hosts, if you don’t mind may we call a brief recess? I wish to walk in the subterranean moss gardens and discuss extrapolitical matters whilst we wait for the home office to respond to this transmission, if you don’t mind. I’ve also been asked to offer you an embassy on a planet of your choosing in our home system. The Varr Cluster has 4 stars spinning together, an amazing feat. So the planets that rotate around them are plentiful, 12 habitable worlds. We trust one will be to your liking. Enough of that for now however, I’m dying for refreshments.” |

The Crypt Sarcoph Nakar Embassy The Elders bowed their heads in response to Yurkhor's request. "It would be amiss of us to keep you any longer Ambassador, we did interrupt your sleep after all. We are not a race that needs much sleep, we prefer to work. Should you need us we will not be far, we ourselves are yet to eat this morning and so will take this opportunity to do so. Regarding the dreadnought research we will continue that discussion as soon as you are rested properly." The Elders slipped from the room and walked near silently from the embassy, there was a great selection of provisions in the immediate area thanks to it being the embassy zone. Foreign diplomats and ambassadors seemed to enjoy the selection of meats and greens the Obskory had at their disposal. "Shall we discuss this offer of an Embassy then? It would be a great benefit to us to have such a solid 'claw in the door' so to speak should we ever need emergency assistance". "Yes that it would indeed be the case. Only problem i can see is that the Naks and their people are disposed more to the warmer climate than us which will limit our selection of ambassadorial candidates considerably." Silence fell as each Elder thought over every candidate they could think of, everyone from Captains to privates, civilians to civil servants. Then like a sudden burst of light a name beamed into each Elders head, each one realising that it was a perfect fit for the role. Magnus Elder quickly sent a communique to the council secretary, "Call Drajkon, tell him to be in the main council chambers by mid-sun" and with that the Elders turned to their bowls of algae and said no more until the bowls were cleaned. |
