![]() The City of Troyes is the planetary capital of Espérer. It is the largest and most populous city present on the planet and is the seat from which the monarchs of House Guiscard rule and hold court. The city is divided into three segments with a ring of fortifications denoting each section of the city. Extensive waterworks and an elaborate sewage system help wash the filth of the city away and keep the population healthy. The central and first part of the city is the Keep, a great fortified tower constructed with white stone. Prominent machicolations and gun ports dot the Keep enabling defenders to hurl fire down upon any would-be attacker. Massive curtain walls, built in a hexagonal shape, surround the keep with crenelations and gun ports present for use by defending troops. Thick stone battlements, protect the outer edge of the wall ramparts. On each of the walls edges, massive circular towers crowned with large artillery pieces and bristling with weapon hardpoints are present. The walls of the keep have great iron gates and portcullises, with a narrow postern door close by for use as sally point. Behind the walls are yards of varying sizes, vaulted halls, barracks, dungeons and granaries. Inside the keep are several great halls, ballrooms and libraries. The kitchen is of a substantial size, with large larders and a freezing room being close by. Hallways, tastefully decorated with rugs, paintings and ancient suits of power armour connect each room. These hallways are routinely patrolled by unenthusiastic members of the elite Palace Guards. Doors are made of thick oak banded with black iron. The second part of the city is an affluent area with large townhouses, expensive shops and prominent churches of the cult being present. This segment of the city is exclusively inhabitant by the nobility and prosperous members of the middle class. Due to its inhabitants, this section is routinely known as the ‘Noble Quarter’. Buildings have been built using fine stone and expensive wood. Townhouses, in particular, are examples of fine architecture, elaborate gardens along with multiple floors being key aspects of these houses. The streets and roads of this quarter of the city are well maintained. Noblemen walk or ride through the streets, while ladies are escorted on foot or travel in litters. Guards routinely patrol the quarter dissuading thieves and sparing the rich inhabitants from the sight of the lesser-born. Monuments to past Monarchs and great men of the Espérerian nation dot the landscape of the Noble Quarter. Massive curtain walls with defences similar to the Keep surround the quarter. The third and final quarter is the largest and most populous. The ‘Common Quarter’ as it is routinely known is packed with houses, shops, barracks and other miscellaneous buildings. Several large public squares are present were merchants or traders with open stalls hawk their goods. The roads and streets of the quarter bustle with activity, a heavy guard presence polices the streets, dissuading criminals or troublemakers. Nobles or wealthy citizens will travel with an armed escort if passing through this city quarter. Defences of this part of the city constitute huge stone walls built in a hexagonal style with bastions at the corners of each of walls. Large artillery and flax gun are placed evenly along the battlements, the bastions being home to the greatest of the defensive artillery. Great iron gates and portcullises serve as entrance points. Along the roads to these entrances, shanty towns inhabitant by the more impoverished members of the citizenry have been constructed. Edited by TheWildSpud, Jan 29 2018, 03:17 PM.

Orbit around Espérer![]() Suddenly, a bright flash, followed by a shuttle the size of a school bus enters the orbit around the home of the royal kingdom. It's foreign in nature, and it doesn't match any markings of the known nations in the world. It remains stationary, and simply transmit a steady string of numbers to the nearby ships. |

The Foreign shuttle was quickly noticed by Espérer’s planetary defence system, and a Frigate of the 1st Defence Squadron was scrambled to meet the small vessel. The Frigate, HMS Bulwark, stopped at a respectful distance from the shuttle and preceded to arm its weapons. After a few brief moments, a message was emitted in response to the shuttle's transmission. "Unidentified vessel, cease your numbered babbling and declare the reason for your trespassing in a civilised manner. Failure to do so will result in you being forcibly evicted from His Majesty's space." With the transmission ended HMS Bulwark awaited the shuttle's response.
