A city facing near constant storms and hurricanes, most of Schengen's life lies beneath mountains, with sprawling cave systems and teeming with life. This is where the Federation established it's cities. Huge metropolises sprawl in all directions beneath the planet's surface, with cities that dwarf their Sol counterparts. Living spaces are extremely tight, and due to the fact that all these cities lie beneath the mountains, it has become hard to expand. The surface is dotted with military facilities and research outposts, and around the planets orbit lie huge swaths of orbital defensive platforms and commercial stations alike. Diversity is huge on Schengen, although citizenship is reserved for those who have served with the military, or with the Foreign Regiment. Most Armistice nations have designated embassy in the capital.

Salting the fresh wounds of the annihalation of Armistice Station, news of the destruction of Tiran spread like wildfire - between the countless vessels fleeing the system and the last-moment signals of what transpired there, it was nigh impossible to stem the flow of information. Within the diplomatic compound that held the embassy of the Greater Commonwealth of Nations, diplomats and other personnel stationed in the heartland of the UFE moved around, connected to the ever expanded web of data that their devices fed into them.

It didn't take long before the diplomatic car of the Commonwealth's ambassador had departed from the compound, largely unescorted - though given this was Schengen, their safety was all but guaranteed.

Victor McElhinney was not what one might've called an imposing man, from a glance - his taller, slender complexion and pale skin bore the hallmarks of a man who'd spent his childhood growing up in the confines of one of many space-borne habitats, but only a backwards 'garden-ranger' would've mistaken it for weakness. In his younger years, he'd served in the RAF as a pilot, retiring when an accident cost him an arm and both legs. In the wake of that, he'd gone back to his feet the moment he'd undergone surgery to replace the lost limbs with cybernetics and gone straight towards the civil service and, by extension, politics. Twenty-four years had passed since those early days, now the man stood as the ambassador to Europa.

As they approached the vast compound which contained the Foreign Office of the UFE, a great towering complex loomed overhead, almost as if it pierced through the ceiling of the great cavernous complex and all the way to the heavens above. It was almost enough to impress McElhinney, but being a pilot meant you saw a great many things that overshadowed and belittled what you wouldn't have thought of as mundane.

Departing from his car, the man was flanked by half a dozen diplomatic personnel, each serving their own function - including an attache each from the military and the CSIS. Much to the surprise of some of the staff on-duty at the Foreign Office, McElhinney's entourage included a Rakhan diplomat in formal garb, walking on four limbs. A request for an audience had been made and approved little more than an hour earlier, for the occasion was an urgent one. McElhinney stepped forth to meet his European counterpart and shook hands, before beginning.

"I believe you are aware as to the reason for the urgent nature of our meeting - I trust you are fully aware of the near simultaneous destruction of both Armistice Station and Tiran Station." He didn't mince his words, speaking with purpose. "Whilst we have little knowledge as to who or what party was responsible for this vile terrorist attack, it is well known that a joint force spearheaded by the Nakar was responsible for the destruction of Tiran, with no regard for the collateral damage they have caused. As is well known, the Commonwealth has never condoned or enabled piracy. We have taken many steps to combat it, both within and outside our borders through both military and economic means. That does not change the fact that Tiran Station was a civilian target. As of the most recent tally, there were approximately four thousand, two hundred and sixty one citizens of the Greater Commonwealth on that station, including the Prince Richard of our own Royal Family."

Ambassador McElhinney paused for a moment, to let the weight of his words hang in the air and to clear his throat before he continued. "Intelligence suggests... suggested that there were a substantial number of European citizens, including a relative of Chancellor DuPont - his niece." Using his tablet, the ambassador offered his counterpart a view of the reporting that had been made visible to him - a name and face among countless statistics of the souls lost on the station. "It goes without saying that we are in a time of substantial crisis and, on behalf of the Commonwealth, I would like to extend both my condolences and the knowledge that we are willing to take measures in retaliation for this reckless destruction."

David Alba had been busy all morning, the news of Tiran station's destruction had set the entire Europan government into overdrive. The station itself contained thousands of Federal citizens, including the Chancellors niece. She had flown off to the station to party on her vacation and now she was dead. Most important was the meeting they had set with the Greater Commonwealth. Several phone calls were made to them in the aftermath of the attack and now their ambassador was at the foreign office of the United Federation of Europa.

The room Victor entered was stunning. A wood table in the center, with a holographic display. Two guards stood on the outside, toting assault rifles and in full battle rattle. The entirety of Schengen's security forces were on full alert. David would waste no time and upon sitting down and hearing what Victor would have to say he would rest his arms on the table and look directly at the foreign minister with tired eyes.

"The Federation of Europa would like to extend it's condolences for not only Prince Richard, but also the citizens the Commonwealth. This attack is almost unbelievable. Destroying a civilian target like that should've never been an option. I guess we finally see how little the Nakar care for human life. We all have made steps to stop piracy, but this is one step too far. Our most recent count has left us with roughly six thousand four hundred and ninety two Federation citizens now dead because of the Nakar, and yes including our Chancellor's niece. Our government will not stand for this in the slightest. Nor, will it allow Nakar ships to operate so close to our borders."

Alba paused, shutting off the holographic display before he would continue.

"If we are to prevent another loss such as this we need to be strong in the face of adversity. A unified front against these barbaric acts. Europa has already begun to embargo any and all trade with the involved nations, and we would request that you do the same."

The call would have also been made to meet with New Terra's representatives.
