Floating around a gas giant, an abandoned station emits a distress beacon to all those who can receive it. Formerly a Helium mining plant, the station lost contact some weeks ago. Headquarters of the company owning the facility wrote it off as acceptable damage. Owned by a joint effort between Europa and New Terran mining companies, it isn't clear why the station went offline, but it has been rumored to be pirates.

Possible Rewards: Unknown.

There was nothing to be heard in the darkness of space. Those on ships heard the low machine-produced hum of live support systems and the engines on standby. The signatures spiked as the Lojari jumped in. Unidentified, varying signatures as usual. Five corvettes, and 17 fighter craft, there could have been up to 60 pirates on those ships between them. The ships made a beeline toward the abandoned station.

Those watching, if they were watching, would watch their sensors light up as the Lojari search beacons beamed into the darkness, searching for those in hiding. If pirates existed here, they would soon know they had competition.

The Lojari would find no life signs in or around the station. It would be eerily quiet. The distress signal plays on a loop. It would look as if the station was quickly disabled, and then boarded. The Lojari might need to disembark from their ships to get on board. Several bodies can be seen floating around the station, and some useless junk as well. The occasional spark emits a blue light from the inside.

The Lojari craft close in at slow speed. Large white lights are switched on as the small fighter craft pivot around the wreck.

"Okay, we have bodies here... unable to tell at this distance... I'll have to get closer."

Four of the corvettes stayed behind, weapons charged, doing neat "flower" evasion patterns, consisting of erratic loop arrays. The pilots appeared to be spinning around in an effort to kill time. Closer to the station the fighter craft had slowed themselves to a standstill hovering extremely close to the debris and the bodies.

"Okay, I see one, this guy died without his EVA, guess he didn't mean to do a space-walk. Species confirmed, they are-" he specified whatever he was looking at and he looked above the floating creatures, he scanned the ship for any sort of vacuum hole, were these men jettisoned because someone wounded the station, or was their fate more ambiguous; more menacing.

Human, for the most part. The man they were looking at was obviously dead. But it didn't look like he was shot, his throat was cut, and there was a large open chest wound that looked like it had been inflicted by a blade, or a claw, or some other incredibly sharp object. It seems he died before he was spaced, but it was hard to tell. Then, suddenly, the station let out a groan, it's metal creaking. An explosion from the inside ripped open another wound into the station. Debris went in all directions. The opportunity of boarding the station was quickly disappearing.

"-Human, alright, saddle up and oh shit!" the craft jettisoned out of the way of the array of the debris as the station erupted in the absolute silence of space.

"EVA's on, fill the tanks and prepare to de-pressurise!" Lojari shuffled around the inside of one of the corvettes, 8 pirates, the rest wrapped around the station, hawk eyeing it for other eruptions. Another corvette moved to the top of the station and began cutting their way in from the top.

The silence of space was both terrifying and electrifying. The first 8 Lojari used low energy thrust packs to zip silently into the exterior station door.

"This is group 1, human door, civilian, I'll have this open in no time... thank you Boeing, I tell you, ingenious these humans are.."

"Not ingenious enough clearly."

A third Lojari who was still on his short range traverse grappled the body of one of the human works. "Talk about a bad way to go. This one has had his insides turned into breakfast." he stuck a gloved finger inside the body and wriggled it around, checking for anything nefarious before advising on bringing it on board. "Jozar, catch up when you can" his team called out.

"Copy that, I just want to give old man here a feel."

A few chuckles traded place over the static. The laughter cut when the blast door slid open and the small amounts of oxygen in the chamber bled from the station, the Lojari jetted in. On the comms their entrance was accompanied with "Team two here, we've cut hole in the bridge, they're sealing it behind us, we're in." the radio just caught the charging of an energy weapon before team 2 signed off. They were inside.

*BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP*

"Incoming transmissions, are you getting this?"

"Yeah It appears all vessels got it."

"Whoa, who sanctioned this?"

"Royalty it seems."

"Cut the raid, we've got bigger fish to fry..."

Teams one and two became uneasy at the traffic, what was going on? Something had happened, potentially far more distressing than what they had anticipated. Jozar, who was still in the middle of fiddling through crystallised human entrails in the deepness of space looked on as without even asking his consent 4 of the 5 corvettes simply jumped away to parts unknown.

"Senkzobe what the hell just happened?"
He hailed the 5th corvette. It responded, whining at first on the radio, followed up by an immediate reply once they'd locked onto his encryption. "Conflict's brewing, the kings are willing to pay a proportionally representational sum for the damage done the Baktan Cartel, they've also thrown the words "Ascendant Technology" around. I think a few boys think they're going to get their hands on a fully operational Xudo."

Jozar nodded at the grim news, they were all but alone now. 4 of their 5 corvettes now shot toward the Baktan territories.

The inside of the bridge would be straight out of a horror movie. Dead crew-members lay in every direction, and blood covers the ground. The Lojari boarding party would notice that a handful of the crew-members were lined up against the far end of the bridge, were shot against the wall. However, the only sign of dead on board seem to be the crew alone. Scorch marks and bullet holes decorate the walls, and the computer systems all display the same message.

SECURITY COMPROMISED; COMMAND CONTROLS RE-ROUTED

The station lurches again, as another blast rips through the abandoned station.

"We don't have a lot of time." the squad leader said to his railgun-toting brethren. "Okay, mag up and lets roll out. Check EVAs, check the station logs."

"We can't this whole fucking room is shot to shit."

"Tag the bodies, find out who they were." as he said this the floor rattled; another explosion. Precious seconds were ticking away. "Okay, lets proceed." As the squad lead said this he took out a circular mine like device and threw it at the wall. In a bright flash an intense laser cutter hammered a circular hole in the untainted compartment of the vessel, more corpses and debris was jettisoned from the hole. The Lojari shot through the hole after the pressure had equalised, their green laser pointers highlighting their aiming. as they proceeded team one crackled onto the radio "We've breached the hangar, we haven't found anything."

The squad leader shook his head, so much for nothing. "Alright, everyone, I'm not seeing too much here, lets get the fuck out of here before we really mess things up-"

"Wait, squad lead! We have an active terminal here. Human English, it hasn't been locked down, looks like it belonged to this guy." The spacesuit strapped Lojari tapped a greyish human without an upper head, putting his finger inside the cranial hole and mixing it around in jest.

"Well, what does it say, what the hell happened here, bring up the highlights and tell me what the hell these people were hauling...."
