Armistice Station.![]() Located a couple hundred kilometers from the old Galactic Council, the Armistice station now serves as the new Council. A joint fleet of the participants of the Armistice council defends the station from any possible terrorist attack. The station itself is several decks large, holding living arrangements and offices for diplomats, as well as several quick response security team barracks. The main area, however, is the circular Council compartment, where hundreds of delegates discuss with their translators on current matters they feel need to be addressed. |

Armistice Station Council Chambers The UFE delegate simply leaned into his microphone looking over towards the Nakar box. While the Nakar may have gathered some kind of support, they still lacked the ability to really force anyone into doing anything. The Federation didn't care much for the Baktan Cartel, but it wasn't about to use any of it's resources to deal with the problem itself. It was too busy trying to manage it's own territory and priorities. He then got to his feet. He looked directly at the Nakar delegate. "You point your finger at humans, yet all over the sector on Talarin the Nakar are supposed to manage, deranged cultists, looters, and pirates operate freely. Coming into our territory and attacking our soldiers and scientist. You can't even manage a planet of looters and religious fanatics and you expect us to believe you can reasonably handle a power that rivals even your own? You think that if we just bomb them to pieces they'll respectfully surrender and hand over their arms. They'll just move elsewhere. And besides, it would be a logistical nightmare. Do you know how many of the population is slaves? Do you plan on taking responsibility for all the innocent lives that will be lost off of this crusade? No I don't think you will. Many will die because of your jump to violence, and inability to grasp the intricacies of how this Cartel even functions. Our Federation refuses to be apart of such an aggressive jump to violence without forethought." |

Armistice Station Council Chambers Imperial Box "Trust Europa to create a leviathan out of a rodent." The Nakar delegate had risen to the challenge, Christian Urtgurge stepped back to his seat. "Interesting that you would so actively seek to turn things towards Talarin; again where the conflict and blocking forces are human based." he then lets forth a low, dry laugh, sounding akin to running a stick along a radiator. "With the proportional representation of forces we find it funny that you go so far as to mock the empire of the great dynamic, when my advisers update me that the Federation is actively increasing its military grip on the planet of Talarin, fortunately for you in the interest of keeping military intelligence classified we are unable to publish the figures that show that we are actively doing more fighting on the ground than you are, not just building helium-3 emissions in the upper atmosphere." he switches his stance, gripping the board of his podium, picking at it, causing it to strain ever so slightly. "We don't expect you to understand the nature of the Baktans when you cannot even handle rebels on Talarin, deep inside your sphere of influence, on your own doorstep! I mean, we Nakar were elected by the council to simply keep an extra-terran eye on things. A council which generally we have made useful decisions for in prior years." He then pulled his head up, looking down his thin nose and the young nation's ambassador. "We respect your open announcing that you are logistically too incapacitated currently to mount such a campaign. We also acknowledge that for Europa it is easy to have an external locus of control for a young nation struggling to find its feet. Intervention is conflict, in conflict, lives perish. Blood is lost in surgery but the operation is what saves the life. Understandably you have mentioned that the pirates cannot be reasoned with, such delays a possible roadblock in this chamber in future." he cocks an eyebrow to the Lojar pirate lords. He was expecting a followup from other nations, to him the human had rolled over, exposing his belly for cheap shots, the news casts were going to love this. The Nakar delegate looked to the Nagarians then. "In our probing of Baktan space, we havn't found another planet, another Gaia world on which to settle. So, unless Europa knows of a long list of perfect planets on which to settle, fourteen to fifteen jumps from its system," he swallowed the saliva forming in his mouth, "I think strategic strikes on the Baktan military installations would be entirely possible. Firstly through the destruction of the notorious pirate outpost: Tiran Station. Now, we respect that this is possibly your first large scale operation, and saving face must be important. However for Europa, whilst it's advise is welcome, it is simply too far away to worry about the politics of the Baktan, the former speech about Talarin only goes further to prove that if you have nothing relative to say, it is not necessary." Armistice Station Council Chambers Saphrithid Democratic Republic Box The Democratic Diplomat shook his head, he rose, de-dusting his garment. "We hadn't even heard the response of all members of this chamber before the Europeans made clear their objectives. Like the human canine they bite at the heels of the Empire, it appears they are still embittered by the councils decisions over Talarin." he held up a hand to silence the stirring. "We thank the Nakar for sharing this military information about Talarin. We also remind the Nakar that to rise to the challenge of rush brash divergence is foolish when we know the anarchic processes of the nations of man." |

Armistice Station Council Chambers The Federation ambassador throws his hands up and shakes his head. The Nakar delegate knew exactly who controlled the most territory on Talarin, and it was not them. He was arguing with someone who obviously wouldn't be convinced. "By all means, waste your nation's troops lives on a campaign against an enemy you know very little about. You mistake restraint for lack of ability. The Nakar could learn something about it. Oh, and more fighting does not mean winning in the slightest. The Federal sectors on the planet display the most consistently low violence, due to the fact of our higher military success rate. You want to go after the Baktan cartel? What's stopping you? I'm flattered you came to the council for permission, but you are all sovereign nations. You have an issue with them, then gather your fleets and go. Don't expect our help to run headfirst into a complicated situation with no strategy other than blowing up a glorified club in space." |

Armistice Station Council Chambers The Lojar Kings had little time for many of mankind's squabbling. Trading of words between the kings had deduced that this jumped up humanoid was protecting their biggest competitor. They had cast the previous speeches to Gurragashmiyar and now even some warlords were convinced that glory and riches could be theirs. The decision was going to be easy. They stood up, the Nakar had done some buttering up to the kings but they felt like maybe if they were proactive on their diplomacy the anti piracy chokechain might be a little looser when it came for them. Hell, their time in the sun would be finished at that stage. They stood, projecting their input. "The Lojari feel that it is our duty to this council to back to forces of justice. As such, we will not see our coalition partners starved for resources. We will use the port of Gurragashmiyar to ensure the abled functionality of the attack on 'Bakta' in general." the Ascendants continued to say nothing on this matter. |

Armistice Station Council Chambers As the address of the Lojar Kings drew to its conclusion a new arrival strode into the Council Chambers. Aged, stout and dressed in an exquisite Doublet this new arrival by his appearance was somewhat of a curiosity, an irregularity whose antique appearance was in contrast to the modern drab nature of the Council Chambers. Having taken his seat, the new arrival took in his surroundings, stroking his impressive mustachio as he observed the delegates of the other civilised nations of the galaxy. After a few brief moments of intent study, the new arrival rose to his feet, cleared his throat and began to address the Council Chambers. “In the name of his Majesty King Maurice II of the House of Guiscard, I bid greetings to all delegates present within these chambers. I am Count Lambert of House Foix. My King has dispatched me to Armistice Station to observe the conduct and administration of this fine assembly. If the integrity of this council is not found wanting, then we may join this diplomatic organization on a permeant basis. Until that time I will look forward to the prospect of developing relations between my nation and all members present within this assembly.” Finished, the old Count resumed his seat. |

Armistice Station Council Chambers Imperial Box The cross-species diplomatic panel look at each other, the alien equivalents of head-scratching occurred. Christian Urtgurge whispered something in the ear of his Nakar colleague. The Nakar diplomat rolled his eyes. Humans were completely full of it. Disunity, differing governments, divergent ethics. Like most viruses this one had adapted well, even into Nakar culture! There was the silence of mulling, but the self-professed leaders of the diplomatic process had to have the first word, after all humans had a culture of first impressions. The Nakar diplomat stood and peeled his top lip back over his teeth to speak. "Welcome Count Lambert, we trust House Foix and its ruling Monarch represents the interests of your faction of humanity? As you can see, you are joined by your biological peers. I doubt any faction in here would oppose your admission to these chambers, you already have clearly already made all checks to enter these hallowed halls." As he stood he pivoted his head to eyeball the Saphrithid Democratic Republic. They were going to follow suit and they did so quickly with an even vaguer open ended welcome speech. He then jutted his head towards the Nagarian procession, he knew they weren't the biggest fan of humans so he cocked and eyebrow as if to say "This will make things interesting." The truth was he was masking blind white hot rage for his advisers. How did a sovereign nation just roll into armistice without anyone feeling it necessary to give him a heads up, heads were going to roll for this. Edited by Rookzilla, Jan 22 2018, 11:52 AM.

Armistice Station Council Chambers The New Terrans continued as they always have: by viewing Armistice Station with a healthy skepticism, although whether or not this state of affairs was merely perception or fact was lost even to their Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In recent days the New Terran delegation had seemed to resume its old habits of cycling out it's foreign representatives on an almost monthly basis. It wasn't the ideal circumstances, naturally, but as New Terra had apparently developed a trend for experiencing political upheaval every decade it was nonetheless a fact of life on Armistice. Today the helm of New Terran diplomacy was manned by a firebrand going by the name of Yevgeny Chicherin, his entire staff freshly cycled with the latest exiles and apprentices of the Universalist Clique. Today's issue was not an easy matter. Leave it to the Nakar to actually bring something important to the chamber, Yevgeny cursed to himself. Yevgeny's eye lit up when he first saw the dossier, the New Terrans had been flirting with the Baktan for years; some crew chiefs and pirate vessels were in fact directly employed by the Imperial Guard! He never asked if they were still receiving payments from it's successor agency, the Ministry of State Security, he wouldn't have gotten an answer but he could definitely make a very accurate guess. As always, the demands of industry meant Yevgeny received strict marching orders - Darthan and Iok had coveted resources and so far things have gone smoothly in the efforts to bring New Terra closer to exploiting them. This could not end now and naturally, of course, the cause of Galactic peace shouldn't be infringed upon. "In regards to our previous matter of business," Yevgeny began after the Count Lambert finished his extraneous greeting, exchanging pleasantries with the Nakar delegation. "Delegates of the chamber, we have not seen a major war in nearly twenty years. We should feel privileged that the only horrors we face out in the darkness of space these days are small bands of ruffians deadset on looting cargo holds. A vast majority of which are New Terran goods transported by many of our own shipping companies and contractors, I might add." he smirked at that. "And whilst it's humbling and certainly solicitous that the Nakar suddenly find within themselves an endearing compassion so lacking in us Humans, the fact remains - do we really want another war?" the intellectual Ambassador then raised a sheet, a useless but symbolic gesture as they transmitted the information directly to each delegation's console regardless. "My late reply was not for nothing, we have taken the liberty of requisitioning a study by some of our brightest minds in the Kobrynska Institute - a calculation more like. I'm being told you can see it for yourselves there, we expect a vastly increased loss of life, equipment and an irreparable impact to the political stability of the Galaxy if a major military operation was to be sanctioned here than if we merely committed to maintaining a containment operation. It's believed that if most major powers here today pledged even fifteen percent of their fleet strength to such a containment that we could see at-least a sixty-eight percent drop in regional piracy within the first five years, up that to a full seventy-five once we develop a process of identifying other clandestine routes." he looked up to take note of any nods or other acknowledgment of these impressive stats, he didn't have to look to his sides to know that his own bootlickers were already following suit. "In short, why be so quick to plunge ourselves back into open warfare when we can merely isolate and slowly starve the beast into submission? It should be the people under Baktan control that dictate the changes, not we fine gentlemen." |

Armistice Station Council Chambers The old Count listened intently as the Nakar delegate spoke, mulling on his words. As the Alien finished his greeting, Lambert observed the Nakar’s head movements towards two other foreign delegates. One of these delegates was from an allied state while the other represented a recently Nakar established puppet state. But who is the Ally and who is the puppet? Lambert mused. Clearly, more research is required in this area as the Nakar appear to have some weight behind them. Their delegate box overflowing with a variety of different races including a human was a testament to some form a power. However, was this power political or military? Ending his contemplation Lambert was preparing to respond to the Nakar delegate but was quickly cut off by the young diplomat from the New Terran delegation. His perspective on the rise in Piracy intrigued the old Count and the inevitable response of the other delegates would likewise call for careful consideration. |

Armistice Station Council Chambers The Nagarian diplomat stood swiftly to reply: "As crude the question from the honourable Nakar representative; the point being made is relevant. The planet of Nimbosa and Margonis have been free from established pirate organisations for many years now. Through the painful and tireless dedication of our security forces these embarrassments to our species have been eradicated from our system. Granted, the threat of Nagarian piracy is not over but our methods and ethos on piracy have been stern and honourable." Caraarjin remarks in a smug demeanour. "If the United Federal delegate sees this human piracy as a problem too big or too intricate. I would gladly grand this finest federations advisers to help you with the gaps in your tactics." The Nagarian advisers and aides scoff with contempt. "This is not as straight forward as for the alien nations, as some may think. If our actions are to turn into those of combat. It will reek through the air that humans are now subjugated to alien aggression. How are we to defend ourselves from human aggression. Which has duly been accepted by humans the norm. When we will be accused of tyrants and expansionist in this council when we defend ourselves. Separately, we would like to welcome Count Maurice and house Guiscard to these chambers. May his contributions be just and well received." |

Armistice Station Council DMZ 17km-0km from Armistice Station ![]() Now it was time. Like water running down a morning stream they had succeeded. The navies here were nothing more than token observer fleets, the councils power had waned. Defiance, defiance in the face of all the races would succeed. This was going to take a grand total of 7 seconds. The Ascendants would fall. Amongst the traffic a fuzzy message from the stations space traffic control tried in vain to hail where they thought the vessel was. Like finding a needle in a haystack. These hails continued for the microseconds until it occurred, it felt like an eternity for the zealots on board. Radiological alarms flared up right under the belly of the station as the nuclear devices on board went live. It was a slow day on the station. The Lojar were using a modified civilian Audi transport vessel, formerly belonging to a human delivery group. Within the 0.3 seconds that the craft had gone live, the vessel exploded in a brilliant flash of white and blue, taking a large chunk of the station with it. The fact that the detonation occurred below the station and that it was close to a cargo bay, it shot an outstanding amount of debris throughout the station. It was only one MIRV, equivalent to a buluva warhead. These old phased out devices fell through the cracks sometimes, only to be purchased on the black market. The station groaned as the huge explosion knocked off its baring and seared its interiors. Edited by Credentials, Jan 27 2018, 08:00 AM.
